SUGGESTURE is a collaborative exhibition between a metalsmith and an abstract painter. The artists take on the meaning of gesture in two separate ways - Bergman records the body movements and interactions of daily life influenced by her experience in A.S.L., while Gilmore interprets landscape through lively color and experimental mark-making.
The artists also collaborated on a limited-edition series of jewelry where Bergman’s matte black metal forms outline recycled remnants from Gilmore’s oil paintings to create wearable micro-mosaics.
Amanda Bergman earned her BFA in Jewelry and Metals from Ball State University in 2014 and her MFA in 3D Design from Bowling Green State University in 2017. Bergman is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Allie Gilmore graduated from The University of Mississippi, “Ole Miss,” with her BFA in Painting and later earned her MFA from Bowling Green State University in 2017. Allie’s studio is currently based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Note from the artists: SUGGESTURE is now over, but look out for more collabs from us in the future!
